Breast Lift
What is a Mastopexy?

As we age, our tissues lose elasticity and descend with time. In many women, especially after pregnancy or fluctuations in weight, the breasts can bottom out losing their youthful appearance. A breast lift is a surgical procedure that restores the shape and appearance of the breast by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola into an aesthetically pleasing position.
Why is a breast lift performed?
-
A breast lift is most performed in woman who have drooping breasts (ptosis) and wish to restore a youthful breast appearance
-
A breast lift can also be performed in patients with significant breast asymmetries whether congenital, as a result of breast cancer, or trauma
Types of Breast Lift:
Breast lift procedures are distinguished by incision type:
-
Peri-areolar: around the top half of the areola
-
Circumareolar: around the entire areola
-
Circumvertical (Lolli-pop): around the areola and vertically below the areola in the mid-aspect of the breast
-
Wise pattern (Anchor): around the areola, vertically below the areola and horizontal along the inferior breast border
Each incision pattern has its own indications and benefits and may not be applicable for every patient. Dr. Diaconu can help design the best treatment plan for you based on your individual aesthetic goals and physical characteristics.
Adjunct procedures:
-
Some patients with dropping breasts also wish to increase their breast size. In these cases, an implant is placed at the same time of the breast lift. This procedure is referred to as an augmentation-mastopexy

Commonly liposuction of the axillary roll (under arm fat) is performed to enhance breast shape
