What is liposuction?
​
Liposuction is the process of removing excess fat through very small incisions. It can be performed nearly in every place in the body with the goal to improve contour and create a more fit physique.
Why is liposuction performed?
​
Despite a healthy diet and routine exercise many people have difficulty achieving the fit body type they are looking for. Liposuction can remove this fat to achieve a more fit appearance.

What are the types of liposuction?
​
Several liposuction techniques have been developed and differ largely on the energy source used. The most common type being suction assisted liposuction. Liposuction can be comfortably performed in clinic or in the operating room depending on the location and size of treatment.

What to expect:

Dr. Diaconu will create a personalized treatment plan for you. Some procedures can be performed in our procedure room under local anesthesia while others may require general anesthesia in the operating room

Most patients go home the same day of surgery

It is common to experience swelling and bruising at the area of liposuction. You will be asked to wear a compression garment to assist with swelling

You will be encouraged to walk at home and to refrain from strenuous activity for 3 to 4 weeks

By one week, most patients have minimal discomfort and can return to work if no strenuous activity is required

Over the next several weeks your swelling will improve. During this time, you are encouraged to continue to wear a compression garment

Dr. Diaconu will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions and will meet with you regularly throughout your entire recovery
